read: 2 Peter 3:13-14
In accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth,
where righteousness is at home. Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for
these things, strive to be found by him at peace, without spot or blemish.Text from New Revised Standard Version Bible, copyright 1989, Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. Used by permission. All rights reserved.
To think about:
Waiting is probably the most challenging thing in our society at this
time. We avoid waiting in long lines and have turned to technology for rapid
processing, only to be told that the delivery date is still two weeks away. The
thought of waiting for riches is unheard of, so we turn to "get rich quick"
schemes, only to find that we lose our investments. As youth we detest the
thought of waiting to become an adult so we engage in adult activities early,
only to find that we are too young to handle the responsibilities.
There is a pattern here that is quite obvious. Every time we rush the calendar, we lose precious moments when the opportunity for waiting, reflecting and understanding would remove the stains and blemishes that impact our lives.
