"The ministries and missions of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the ELCA offer
every imaginable setting. Here you will find the breadth of our mission
territory -- the most urbanized centers to the mid sized and smaller sized
cities, the rural spaces and the small towns and mountains. You will find
historic communities and fresh approaches to outreach and renewal.
Throughout the region, you will find challenging settings for ministry to
Jesus Christ."

According to Ms. Nancy Gable, diaconal minister, the Coordinator of Region 8 is really a

DEPLOYED STAFF FOR DIVISION FOR MINISTRY
The coordinator is the on-site presence for all ELCA Candidacy processes in
the eight

those seeking entrance to the ELCA from another tradition. The coordinator
works closely with each candidacy committee, its chair , and the synod staff
assigned to that committee.
DEPLOYED STAFF THE DEPARTMENT FOR SYNODICAL RELATIONS
The Coordinator is the on site presence for those from Region 8 seeking a
first call AND for those who are from other regions being called to a synod
in Region 8 for first call. In this capacity the coordinator helps students
through the assignment process, works with bishops to assess needs and
places and finally is involved in the placement process done by CHURCHWIDE.
REGION 8 COORDINATOR
The coordinator is the organizer, communicator, facilitator of ministry done
collaboratively in the synods. This portfolio would include regional First
Call Theological colleague groups, and yearly retreat, life long learning
opportunities, networking of
other ELCA deployed staff. regional committee structures like global
mission, education, catechumenate, and archives.
