Greek Grammar

• IMPORTANT: Dr. Jim Boyce of Luther Seminary has graciously granted me permission to share his reference grammar with you. Download GRAMMAR NOTES or BoyceGrammarNotes.pdf(this is a PDF file; use right click and "Save Target As" - it's a 209Kb download,). You will still need the GREEK.TTF font which you can download at Greek Resources. This document is 29 pages long. I have also placed a copy on reserve at the library that you may copy.

• Herbert Weir Smyth, A Greek Grammar (primarily for classical Greek)

Bible Programs for Windows

• Bible Windows from Silver Mountain ($130-$195) - Rick Carlson and I are using this one. This is your best value. It is also available on many of the campus computers.
• BibleWorks from Hermeneutika ($300) - This is my favorite, but it is expensive, and you can add another $150 to get the BDAG Lexicon. It will be available on one of the library computers.
• LOGOS Research Original Languages Library (RA) ($400 on their site, $300 elsewhere)
• Gramcord Bible Bundles ($99-$235)
• Also (but only if you are already committed to QuickVerse) Broderbund's QuickVerse: Standard + Greek ($30 + $70) or Deluxe Version ($170)
• The SWORD Project - FREE for a variety of platforms; many translations and versions with potential to unlock (for fee) copyrighted texts
• e-Sword  - FREE - variety of older Greek texts, but many languages and selection of English versions including GoodNews, CEV, The Message
• Online Bible - (actually is a FREE downloadable Bible) - Wide collection of ancient and modern texts including usual online Greek/Hebrew/Latin but also Peshitta, NT Apocrypha, Josephus and more

Bible Programs for Palm, PocketPC, or WinCE:

• Bible for Palm and Pocket PC from Olive Tree Bible Software - BibleReader is free. NRSV is $16. Greek NT is $25-45. Hebrew Masoretic Text also available for $40. Also available is the LXX, RCL, etc.
• GRAMCORD Lite (for Palm & WindowsCE-Pocket PC) (Gramcord and OliveTree mentioned above are the same product)
• Laridian Bible Software for Handheld and Palmtop Computers (NRSV not available for PalmOS; GreekNT not available for any platform)

• UniBible - FREE - PalmOS only - Many language modules available; NRSV not available but ASV, RSV et al are; GreekNT (NA 26/27-UBS3) is available FREE for non-commercial use.

Online Greek New Testament Texts and Study Tools

• The Online Greek Bible (NA²⁶)- Can display unaccented Greek, but outstanding with the Athena or Palatino Unicode fonts. Includes one-click parsing and definitions.
• The Unbound Bible (NA²⁶)- Another wonderful resource that also includes the Septuagint (Greek Old Testament). Under "Power Search," you can even line up multiple translations. Also check out their:

  • Greek Parser
• Greek New Testament - (essentially NA²⁶) - Fairly fast and easy to use. Search by chapter or for words with full grammatical search capabilities.. Click on a word for its analysis.
• Biblon 2000 - Especially useful to look at textual variants and to view some of the original manuscripts.
• New Testament (Westcott and Hort) at the Perseus Digital Library. The beauty of this site is that every word is analyzed and linked to the great classical Greek-English Lexicon of Liddell and Scott and subsequently to examples from classical Greek.
• The NET Bible® - The New English Translation, but it is extensively footnoted with translation observations

NA²⁶ refers to the Nestle-Aland 26th edition of the Greek NT. A standard version though now superceded by the substantially similar 27th edition. Westcott and Hort's edition is probably not the best Greek version, but the differences are not substantial.
