- What is the purpose of the genealogy with which the gospel begins?
- What titles are used of Jesus? How does Jesus as portrayed in the Gospel
of Matthew compare to the portrayal in the Gospel of Mark?
- According to the Gospel of Matthew, how do Christians regard the people
of Israel and its history, traditions, and laws?
- What picture of the "church" (among the Gospels, only Matthew uses the
word) emerges from Matthew? (7.15-23; 16.18; 18.6-7, 15.22; 13.24-30, 36-43,
51-52; 22.1-14)
- Compare Matthew 5.17-20 with Romans 3.21-22. What is the relationship
between law, grace, and righteousness?
